NEW PUBLICATIONS Radius has published two new plays which are available @ £6 including p&p from the office:
Red Star by Les Ellison is the story of a man destroyed by celebrity. Yuri Gagarin, the first person in space, longs to return to his family and career. But for President Kruschev he is an international symbol of Russian power, while for ordinary people he becomes an iconic superhero. When his aircraft runs into trouble one day he inexplicably fails to eject. This fast-paced play for 7 or more actors (3m, 4w) examines the price of celebrity. How is fame manipulated by politicians and the media? Are we complicit in the damage? Red Star was the winner in the shorter play category of Radius playwriting competition 2004.
Three Wise Fools by Margaret Franks takes a fresh look at the Christmas story. Were the Three Wise Men really so wise? Or could they have been status-conscious dignitaries whose astronomy was shaky and whose philosophies had failed them? In this lively play for 9 characters (3m, 6m or w) the Magi glide regally into Bethlehem but have to take second place to the Shepherds who are noisy, happy and far too busy to be troubled by uncertainties. Gradually the Three Wise Fools realise what discipleship means.
