Exciting new Easter play for Radius:

He’s Not Here by Les Ellison

In Les Ellison’s new Passion play the audience are searching for the character of Jesus yet always failing to find him. They pursue the Messiah throughout Holy Week, following in his footsteps but constantly a few strides behind. Events of the Passion are presented through the voices of people who were there but do not usually get a speaking role: a paramedic treating a policeman who may have lost an ear whilst arresting Jesus; a guard at the palace; three women come to collect the bodies of those executed.  Ellison's trademark mixture of high comedy and pathos will be enjoyed by both performers and audiences.

The play is written to be promenaded, although for those without the facilities to do this it would be possible to adapt it for a stationary performance. Music can be integrated.

He’s Not Here is a lively and innovative way to present the story of the Passion, allowing for flexibility of casting. The play was premiered by Nickie Cox during Holy Week 2009 and a report of the production appeared in Radius Performing, Summer 2009 issue.  The photocopiable script can be ordered from Radius @£6 including postage.
